Fraud scandal at the CPAO
Recently Rod Barr retired from the CPAO. This is Rods second retirement. Rod retired the first time from Deloittes when he was forced to retire due to his involvement in the Livent fraud and his responsibility for approving the financial statements of the biggest fraud in Canadian history. A lot of people were hurt by the criminals running Livent and the responsibility for enabling the fraud has been adjudicated to the tune of 85 million plus 45 million interest. Not a lot if you say it fast. Imagine. Rod is essentially the biggest dope ever to grace the accounting landscape and he is elected president of the CPAO! What could go wrong?
Rods tenure at the CPAO has been marred by embarrassing court decisions and the Sone fraud. He spent $250,000 in legals to defend the Sone fraud and has been engaged in litigation for six years. Sone stole $4,000? Why spend $250,000 to recoup $4,000? Barr is not the sharpest tool in the shed. Judge Arthur Gans ridiculed Barr for signing off on the financial statements. Gans claimed that Barr turned a blind eye to the massive fraud before him. I wonder which eye is blind. Either that makes him a pirate in my books and pirates deserve only one fate: to walk the plank.
Barr walked the plank at the CPAO and is hoping to avoid public scrutiny for his role in the Livent fraud and Sone fraud. I will not let that happen. I am going to blog on the Livent proceedings and will keep you updated as to the shenanigans at the CPAO.
Some questions remain;
1) why has Barr not faced disciplinary charges for the Livent ruling?
2) why has the Sone fraud and litigation been continued by the incoming president at the CPAO even though a judgment has been rendered confirming the fraud by Sone?
I will attempt to get answers to these questions and report back to you the good reader.
